TECHNICAL GUIDE

Magnetization Direction and Polarity

Define axial, thickness, radial, diametric or other magnetization requirements for a custom NdFeB magnet drawing and assembly.

Discuss Magnetization

State direction and polarity on the drawing

State direction and polarity on the drawing

Thickness or axial magnetization and other customer-required orientations can be reviewed. The drawing should identify the reference face, north/south polarity and the direction relative to the assembly.

Axial or thickness direction

Radial or diametric orientation when required

Pole position and polarity

Reference datum or assembly direction

Special patterns need early review

Special patterns need early review

Multipole magnetization may be outsourced. If the project needs a non-standard pattern, include the pole layout, pitch, reference direction and inspection expectation before quotation.

Keep magnetization connected to the part

Keep magnetization connected to the part

The same geometry may behave differently when the pole direction changes. Review magnetization with grade, coating, working environment, assembly and magnetic target rather than selecting it after the part is defined.
